Samson Oluwamodede, a well-known evangelist in the South West, foresaw consequences if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, attempted to delay the upcoming general election.

Oluwamodede pointedly cautioned that shifting the poll from its already established dates could cause instability and turmoil in the nation.

According to the popular cleric who also doubles as General Overseer of the Prayer Centre Church of God, PCCG, all must be done to ensure that peace does not elude the country at this critical point in the country.

The general election in Nigeria can be postponed. They risk something if they put it off. I’ll say it again: something terrible might happen.

Oluwamodede in his prophecy during a church programme said, “So, we don’t want them to postpone it. We don’t engage in combat. Crisis is not what we desire. Order is what we seek. Let Nigerians live in peace.

In the last 24 hours, there have been speculations that the polls could be cancelled or postponed owing to the growing wave of election-related insecurity across the country.

Chairman, Board of The Electoral Institute, TEI, INEC’s training arm, Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru also made the observation on Monday in Abuja at the validation of election security training resources.

The electoral body had announced February 25 and March 12, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential, national assembly and governorship elections respectively.
