This summer, Boniface moved from Union St. Gilloise of the Belgian Pro League to Bayer Leverkusen.
This season, the Nigerian international has been among the best players in the Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old played twice for Bayer Leverkusen in August, recording two goals and one assist.
Noah Atubolu, a goalkeeper for SC Freiburg who was born in Nigeria, is another candidate for the honor.
In three games for Freiburg in the league in August, Atubolu only allowed one goal.
The other nominee for the honor is Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig.
