Former IPOB leader Reno Omokri has called on Igbos to formalize the group.
If IPOB became a political party, the activist claimed, Nigerians would support them.
Omokri said, “Play your cards well and Nnamdi Kanu will be liberated. If IPOB were to renounce violence and transform into a political party like the Irish Republican Army did to become Sinn Féin, they might take democratic control of the Southeast, transform it into a utopia, and have other Nigerians vote for IPOB party Senators, Governors, and President. Who wouldn’t want a better option?
