Sen. Akpan is granted bail by an appeals court

Bassey Albert Akpan, a senator from the Uyo Senatorial District, has been granted bail by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

In order to protect Akpan’s health, the court granted him bail while an appeal was being heard.

A Uyo Federal High Court presided over by Justice A.A. Okeke condemned the senator to 42 years in jail for corruption on December 1, 2022.

Albert was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with acquiring exotic automobiles worth N204 million from Jide Omokare, a contractor for the Akwa Ibom State Government.

After being granted bail by the judge, Albert reacted by thanking God.
