The club’s major issue has been revealed by Manchester United veteran Gary Neville before of their Premier League matchup against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Neville claims that Manchester United’s main issue is their lack of choices at center back.

Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford each scored twice as Man United defeated Burnley 2-0 in the Carabao Cup last-16 at Old Trafford to start the 2022–2023 season.

However, with manager Erik ten Hag’s favored 4-2-3-1 formation for the Carabao Cup match, midfielder Casemiro and defender Victor Lindelof started as the center back partnership.

While Raphael Varane suffered a knock during the recent France vs. Argentina FIFA World Cup final in Qatar, summer signing Lisandro Martinez received an extended break following his participation in the match.

Neville noted in an interview with Sky Sports that “They [Man United] look like they have a serious problem at center-back.

“Martinez appears to be out for at least a few weeks. Varane clearly sustained an injury, and it is unknown when he will recover.

If Maguire is sick, they will enter those Premier League games with a depleted defense, he continued. They would have been penalized if they had been playing in the EFL Cup against a Premier League team, therefore they need to bring several players back.
