To combat sexual harassment, UNIZIK has begun installing surveillance cameras

In response to reports of sexual harassment on campus, administrators at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka have begun installing Closed-Circuit Television cameras.

According to reports, the administration made this decision in response to an uptick in sexual harassment complaints filed against teachers at the school.

On Monday, our correspondent who was showing about campus noticed that the installation process had begun in the Faculty of Law.

Some professors accused of sexual harassment were fired by the institution a few weeks ago, and others were placed on administrative leave.

Prof. Charles Esimone, the university’s vice chancellor, dismissed a lecturer (name withheld) from the Faculty of Law after complaints of sexual harassment were lodged by students.

The school acted after hearing from the impacted female students.

An anonymous source at the school verified that most professors were opposed to having surveillance cameras installed in their classrooms and offices.
