Manager Erik ten Hag has spoken out about David de Gea’s decision to leave Manchester United.

De Gea announced his departure from Manchester United after 12 years and 545 career games.

Ten Hag, who signed with the team over the summer, praised the former Spain number one’s accomplishments.

The Dutchman claims that the 32-year-old’s success at Old Trafford can be attributed solely to his superior qualities and character.

According to Ten Hag, the goalie’s performance is reflected in the four times he was named Player of the Year by both fans and teammates.

“I am personally grateful for the 25 clean sheets he helped provide last season and for his overall contribution on the pitch during my first year at the club,” he said.
