The potential issue for Declan Rice at Arsenal has been revealed by Rio Ferdinand.

The parties have agreed on a payment schedule for the £105 million transaction, with the Gunners paying the £100 million fixed element of the fee in three installments over the following 24 months, so the midfielder can officially join Arsenal from West Ham United this summer.

Ferdinand, however, thinks Rice might buckle under the strain of such a high price.

The former Manchester United player claimed on his FIVE YouTube show, “Declan Rice will have enjoyed it at West Ham. What a fantastic farewell!

The question now is whether or not he can perform at that level. The stakes are higher today; he must meet various expectations and meet different demands. Perhaps in an Arsenal uniform, more will be expected of him than what he did for West Ham.

You don’t get time if you’re a player who cost over £100 million or set a British transfer record as I did. You won’t even get a few days to settle in. There is no “Oh, it is a new team, new manager, new tactics, give him a bit of time.”
