Igariwey, a PDP Reps candidate, requests that Umahi look into the slaying of a pregnant woman in Ebonyi

Iduma Igariwey, a member of the House of Representatives who represents the Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency in the national assembly, tasked governor David Umahi to form a judicial panel of inquiry to look into the killing of a seven-month pregnant woman in the Ekoli Edda community over the weekend.

Recall that Eni Uduma Chima, the former chairman of Afikpo South LGA, and Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, engaged in a power struggle that caused unrest in the Ekoli Edda village.

According to kuryaloaded, the disturbance resulted in the murder of four youngsters, including a police officer, and the setting on fire of homes and other goods in the neighborhood.

Igariwey, who is running for reelection, urged the David Umahi-led government of Ebonyi state to quickly establish a judicial panel of inquiry to look into the immediate and remote causes of the chaos in Afikpo South.

Igariwey, a member of the House of Representatives, revealed this to reporters in his hometown of Afikpo North LGA.

He pleaded with the warring Ekoli-Edda groups in the local government that had caused the mayhem to put down their swords and let peace prevail.

Without addressing the underlying causes of the issue, he emphasized, “it is not enough to put one or two folks in what amounts to protective custody.”
