As they vandalized Ladi Adebutu’s campaign posters for governor of Ogun State, some persons who were allegedly affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) were captured on camera.

The men could be seen taking down the posters and mini billboards in a popular video.

For unspecified reasons, the enraged teens ripped and destroyed the campaign materials aggressively.

According to information obtained by kuryaloaded, the event took place in Ogun State’s Iperu Local Government Area.

Adebutu and the governor Dapo Abiodun, who is running for governor in 2023, are both from Iperu.

The young males made numerous derogatory remarks about the PDP and its candidate while threatening to assault anyone who had a PDP sign in their neighborhood.

“Anyone should use caution, because I’ll have guns and shoot anyone. In the video, one of the males can be heard saying in Yoruba, “I have no time for crazy.

The PDP, meantime, has denounced the move, claiming that it “would disrupt the peace and tranquility in Ogun State and the acts of conflict and violence will put the peace of the State in peril” if it is not stopped.

According to a statement from the Adebutu/Akinlade campaign organization’s director of media and publicity, Afolabi Orekoya, the Ogun people are not touts, and no amount of intimidation would change their choice to vote the APC out of government in 2023.

He argued that the APC tried to foment strife inside the PDP through the sponsorship of several lawsuits against the party, but it was unsuccessful, adding that the party has since turned to the destruction of campaign signs and other materials.

He asked the governor to summon the aforementioned youths to order against “their destructive actions and attacks on the opposition ahead of the 2023 elections” in order for peace to reign in the State. He also called on security agencies to warn their political thugs, whom he described as elements of destruction.

The Ogun State Police Command voiced alarm following the event on the actions of the “hoodlums, who have been engaging in destruction of campaign billboards and posters of candidates of political parties in the State.”

The command’s spokeswoman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement on Wednesday that some thugs had already defaced the APC’s campaign billboards the week before.

The order issued as a result stated: “Those responsible for the nefarious act must desist immediately or be prepared to face the terrible repercussions of their acts.”

The police, according to Oyeyemi, would not put up with any acts of lawlessness before, during, or after the general elections in 2023.

“Therefore, anyone found committing any conduct that threatens the state’s atmosphere of peace will face harsh punishment in accordance with the law.

“Anyone who tries to undermine our determination in this matter will be held accountable.

Politicians are also urged by this release to follow the rules of the game and to urge their followers to do the same in order to avoid negative outcomes.
